Conservation Initiatives

“Conservation is a cause that has no end. There is no point in which we will say our work is finished.’’

– Rachel Carson

Our future as farmers and ranchers depends on our conservation efforts today. We are currently exploring partnerships with local and state-wide conservation organizations to support their initiatives in building and maintaining sustainable agricultural practices.

Past Engagements

Rainwater Harvesting System

in partnership with the Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District (UTGCD)

The late Melton Harms and board member Alicia Ellis worked with the UTGCD to secure a $50,000 grant to construct a rainwater harvesting collection to serve the Parker County Livestock Improvement Association (PCLIA) grounds. With more than 60 events taking place at the grounds annually and an estimated 35,000 visitors, the PCLIA wanted to ensure all contestants and their animals had continued access to clean, potable water. This system removed the need to drill another water well, conserving water. The project was ultimately recognized by the Texas Water Development Board and received a 2020 Texas Rain Catcher Award.
